Although my first ministry appointment dates back to 1980, I would say my passion for serving Jesus Christ really began in 1994 with an energized desire to see every person moving closer to Jesus. From those needing a “first introduction” to other life travelers who need someone encouraging them to keep their eyes on the One who gives life, I am excited to fuel growth in those around me. My ministry involvement includes multiple churches; Young Life leader/senior leader/committee; youth director; director of student ministries; Associate Pastor of Generational Ministries (high school, college, and family); trainer; facilitator; and conference speaker. I am a gifted communicator, helping others grow through the understanding of the scriptures, serving their communities, and learning how much the Father of All truly loves us. Additionally, I am a husband, father, and an avid Seattle Sounders FC fan!
‘It’ began by a vacation to Thailand. We met Emmi, who ran the WonGen Kafe’ in Chiang Mai and fell in love with her and her mission. After receiving permission to use the name, WonGeneration was born in the U.S. It excites me to be active in a ministry that is helping to facilitate other people serve, love, and living out the gospel. Through God’s grace and mercy, He has taught me to love people so much more and to receive His joy through active service to Him. I work with Rainier Hills Young Life as the Area Office Administrator in Enumclaw, Washington. I enjoy training my Aussies as well as playing, coaching & watching soccer of all kinds. I’m a huge Arsenal and Seattle Sounders FC fan. I am an amateur bird watcher and love to sail the ocean blue looking for adventure with my husband and friends. I love to sing and play the keyboard. Plunk me down on a white sandy beach in the middle of the Caribbean where it is hot, sunny and breezy and I would be ecstatic! My favorite food would be anything with cheese or lemon in it. One interesting fact about me that other’s may not know is that I am very spatially gifted… haha! I can pack a mean grocery bag or cargo size trailer with every space filled up with no damaged product. How do I want to be remembered?… Besides, “She was a damn fine goalie!”?… By my sincerity, integrity and character as well as being a great wife and mother! I am most thankful for my husband, who is my best friend; my fantastic children; loving pets and true friends. I am blessed!
My favorite thing about WonGeneration is that it empowers normal people to do extraordinary things. I believe God has laid certain things on our hearts to do to make a positive difference in the lives of others, but sometimes its hard to know where to begin. I have seen WonGeneration help many people over the years to discover their gifting and release them to make a difference. It's such an inspiring thing to see. When I am not helping at WonGeneration I serve as the Director of Music Ministries at Wabash Church in Auburn, WA. I have a beautiful wife at home and we enjoy spending time with our adorable dog, Lucy.
I live in Enumclaw, Washington with my beautiful wife Kate, and our three wonderful kids. I am involved with WonGeneration because I truly believe that it is our call to make genuine, concerted efforts to take care of those less fortunate than ourselves. I believe Christ honors our efforts, as it says in Matthew 25:40, and that he truly says “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me”. What a beautiful call and beautiful way to live, that of thinking beyond ourselves and our desires to provide hope for those who have little or none. I am also an Area Director with YoungLife, which is an international outreach to teens, focusing primarily on seeking out kids who are unchurched or anti-church and sharing the Love of Christ with them through building bridges of friendship. I have been on YoungLife staff for 7 years and between my wife and I have over 25 years of combined experience in the mission. I enjoy being outdoors, and take tons of pleasure in the stunning beauty that surrounds us here in Western Washington. I also enjoy adventurous eating, and living vicariously through travel and culinary shows. I love being a husband and dad, and spending time with my family is a top priority in my life. I also enjoy reading, learning, laughing, and being able to seek and find God in everyday life, whatever those circumstances may be.
Through the passion of others and the work of God, I am inspired to see this world become more selfless. My gift of compassion and motivation allows me to see a bigger end-goal, which in turn, feeds my desire to help facilitate the work of others. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Washington University with a concentration in Management Information Systems. I am passionate towards my career in Technology and Project Management. The constant learning curve derived from this industry drives my thirst for further knowledge. Seeing the positive impact and the efficiencies that technology brings to the passion of others allows us to connect and come together with stronger synergy. During the winter months, it is not uncommon to find me pointing downwards on a ski slope. When I am not in the mountains, I love traveling and going on adventures with my friends… “Never Stop Exploring”.
I’m a Christian, a nurse and a mother. I desire to do things well and believe we should all be treated with love, respect and compassion. I believe in God’s grace, in which I am a grateful recipient and believe that we should extend that grace to others. It pains me when I see others not being treated well and my genuine passion for helping people led me to become a registered nurse hoping to be a positive influence in lives. My career journey has led me to where I currently work in an outpatient oncology setting. I’m excited to serve on the board of WonGeneration as I see many lives have been touched since it’s beginning. Len and Sheri both exemplify the values I believe in and treat others with the love of Christ.
Since I began working with WonGeneration, I’ve collected for local food banks, cooked for the homeless, coerced family and friends to donate clothing, hosted a community Easter dinner, and even traveled to Thailand to build a children’s home. I know there are many people like myself who have the desire to reach out and help others, but don’t always know how. I love that WonGeneration is an organization dedicated to helping those people act on their desire to serve and find their calling in furthering the Kingdom of God. In my work with WonGen, I hope to follow Paul’s example in Acts 20:35 “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’.” In my day job, I manage affordable housing for non-profits and regularly work with those in our community who are experiencing hardships. I enjoy mystery novels set in 1930’s England, eating sushi, watching old movies and spending time with family, especially my husband Andy.
